Department of Medical Innovation

The Department of Medical Innovation that was established in Osaka University Hospital comprises three centers. The Medical Center for Translational and Clinical Research provides centralized support to translational research aimed at practical applications of new ideas in medical technology proposed by the academic world, and practical application of new pharmaceutical products and medical devices through clinical trials. The Data Coordinating Center provides comprehensive support by carrying out independent data management and statistical analysis for intervention trials and analytic research. The Center for Global Health provides medical services for non-Japanese patients, education / training for non-Japanese health care workers, and promotes global expansion of innovative medicine developed in Japan to meet the increasing needs in "global health". Through their organic links, these centers provide to the Hospital integrated and efficient support, enabling to fulfill its obligation to research and develop advanced medical technologies as an advanced hospital. By linking novel medical technologies to practical application, the Department of Medical Innovation aims to contribute to the global health as well as health of the Japanese people by overcoming incurable diseases and offering measures to cope with the aging society, which is a pressing issue in Japan. At the same time, the Department aims to be a driving force in the creation of medical innovation, thereby creating the future of medical science and practice.
